ICYMI: DSA Explains Value of Direct Selling at Latino Coalition's 2016 Small Business Summit

June 21, 2016

Last week, Direct Selling Association’s (DSA) Executive Vice President & COO, Adolfo Franco, participated in The Latino Coalition (TLC) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2016 America’s Small Business Summit in Washington, D.C. Franco discussed trends and opportunities for entrepreneurs and the significant growth of the direct selling channel.

Joined by Lourdes Martin-Rosa, American Express OPEN Advisor in Government Contracting, and John Reynolds, President of the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation, Franco provided insight on the opportunities direct selling creates for independent, entrepreneurial-minded Americans, describing the motivations for Hispanic/Latino individuals.

“Approximately 20% of individuals involved in direct selling are Hispanic/Latino because the direct selling model helps people start their own business with very minimal investment and on their own schedule… Direct selling is a good fit for many Latinos,” said Franco.

According to new data released in the association’s Growth & Outlook survey, direct retail sales continues to grow year after year to more than $36 billion in 2015. The number of people involved in direct selling also significantly increased to over $20 million, an 11% increase from the previous year.  Learn more at www.dsa.org/benefits/research/factsheets.
