ICYMI: Briefing on the Importance of Independent Entrepreneurs in the American Economy

March 1, 2016

On March 1, 2016, Direct Selling Association (DSA) President, Joseph Mariano spoke at a Capitol Hill briefing hosted by the Coalition to Promote Independent Entrepreneurs to discuss the value and benefits of independent work to our economy and the country. He was joined on a panel by a labor economist and representatives from other independent contractor industries.

The panelists examined the economic benefits of the independent contractor workforce. Mariano offered insights on why people are attracted to direct selling, the motivations for becoming involved in the business and the high rate of satisfaction among the salesforce. He discussed how important direct selling and the independent contractor model are to the more than 18 million people involved in direct selling.
