Direct Selling Association Elects New Officers, Directors

Orlando, Fla., (June 2, 2014)—Members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) today elected officers and directors to the association’s Board of Directors. The officers will each serve one-year terms in their elected positions, and the directors will each serve three-year terms.

Officers of the association are recognized leaders who command the respect of their colleagues and the public, can devote the time necessary to lead and direct the affairs of the association, are willing and able to assume and carry out the duties of the chairman of the Board, when and if called upon to do so, and have served as directors or have demonstrated ability by their work on committees or on special projects.

Chairman: Truman Hunt, President & Chief Executive Officer, Nu Skin Enterprises

Truman Hunt was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Nu Skin Enterprises in 2003. Under his leadership, the company operates in 53 markets. Mr. Hunt is focused on the company’s mission to be a force for good throughout the world by empowering people to improve lives with rewarding business opportunities, innovative products and an enriching, uplifting culture. He also serves on the executive board for the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation. Mr. Hunt earned a Bachelor’s degree in business management from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Utah.

Vice Chairman: David Holl, President & Chief Executive Officer, Mary Kay Inc.

David Holl has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Mary Kay Inc. since April 2006. Previously, Mr. Holl served as Chief Operating Officer of Mary Kay Inc. He joined the company in 1993 and served in a variety of roles including Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. He also served as Vice President in the Corporate Capital division at Citibank, based in New York, and as a Financial Analyst for Union Texas Petroleum. He serves as a Director of the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC). He holds a BS in Finance from Clemson University and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Vice Chairman: Lori Bush, President & Chief Executive Officer, Rodan + Fields

As Rodan + Fields President and Chief Executive Officer, Lori Bush considers it an honor and privilege to be entrusted with the founders’ brand and mission of changing skin and changing lives. Since joining the company in October 2007, Ms. Bush led the company’s pivot into the direct selling channel and continues to shape Rodan + Fields’ future as a leader in anti-aging skincare and social commerce. Ms. Bush has more than 30 years of experience in the consumer and health care products industries, previously serving as at companies including Nu Skin International, Johnson & Johnson and Neutrogena Corporation. Ms. Bush earned her BS in Medical Technology from The Ohio State University and her MBA in Marketing from Temple University.

Treasurer: Matt Blok, Director, Functional Financial Planning & Analysis, Amway

Matt Blok currently serves as Amway's Director of Functional Financial Planning and Analysis, based at Amway World Headquarters in Ada, Mich. Previously, he served as the CFO of Amway Korea, responsible for the finance division of one of Amway's largest markets. Mr. Blok joined Amway in 1997 in the internal audit division. Since then, he has held positions across the company, including an international assignment with Amway Europe as the area finance manager, afterwards returning to the U.S. to serve as the business planning and finance manager at Amway World Headquarters. Mr. Blok received a BBA from Western Michigan University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Immediate Past Chairman: Orville Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, Scentsy, Inc.

In 2004, Orville Thompson discovered Scentsy at a northwest trade show and instantly knew he had stumbled upon something special. He and his wife, Heidi, purchased the Scentsy product line, loaded the inventory into the back of a Suburban and moved it to a 40-foot ocean shipping container on their Idaho sheep farm. With his wife by his side, Mr. Thompson guided Scentsy from humble beginnings to become an international leader in home fragrance, with products sold by dedicated Scentsy consultants in seven countries on three continents. Now just a decade old, Scentsy Family consists of multiple brands, employs more than 900 people in three states and is ranked as one of the 25 largest direct selling companies in the world.

Past Chairman: Brett R. Chapman, Chief Legal Officer, Herbalife

As Chief Legal Officer of Herbalife, Brett Chapman has responsibility for all legal and regulatory matters relating to the company‘s business around the world. His expertise in corporate and international law was refined during 13 years at The Walt Disney Company, where he served most recently as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Prior to joining Disney, Mr. Chapman was with the Los Angeles office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, a multidisciplinary law firm with offices worldwide, and the London office of Linklaters, a leading international law firm.

Doris Christopher, Founder, Chairman, & Interim CEO, The Pampered Chef

Inspired by her dedication to preserving the tradition of family mealtimes and driven by the spirit of entrepreneurism, Doris Christopher founded The Pampered Chef from the basement of her suburban Chicago home in 1980. More than 30 years later, the business has blossomed into a multimillion-dollar enterprise with more than 60,000 consultants worldwide. Ms. Christopher has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2012 Torchbearer of the Year Award for her leadership and dedication to ethical business practices by the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois; and “The Order of Lincoln Medallion,” the highest honor for outstanding achievement the State of Illinois bestows to people who were born or have resided in the state.

Jonathan Gelfand, Chief Legal Officer & Sr. VP, Business Development, Team Beachbody

Jonathan Gelfand serves as Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President, Business Development, for Team Beachbody, a health and wellness company. In his eight years at the company, his legal responsibilities have included protection and growth of the company with a focus on: direct response and direct selling marketing; entertainment; new media and emerging technologies; advertising and claims substantiation; privacy; international, federal and state regulatory compliance; data security and fraud protection; contests, sweepstakes and general marketing review; licensing and rights clearance; drafting, educating and enforcing distributor policies and procedures; corporate governance; and intellectual property, brand protection, anti-piracy and counterfeit protection matters. Mr. Gelfand graduated from the University of California San Diego and received his JD from Stanford Law School. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.

Erik Johnson, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Hy Cite Enterprises, LLC

After graduating high school at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, Erik Johnson obtained his BS in industrial engineering from Columbia University in 1990. In 1997 he received an Executive MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He began his career as an engineer and project manager for Proctor & Gamble from 1990 to 1995. He joined Hy Cite Corporation in 1995 for the first time as a full-time employee. Mr. Johnson had worked many summers and holiday vacations throughout his life at Hy Cite since 1970. He worked in various departments from January 1995 until December 1999, learning all aspects of the business in order to be prepared to lead the Hy Cite organization after the retirement of his father, Peter O. Johnson, the founder of Hy Cite. Mr. Johnson and his wife, Amy, have been married almost 17 years and have two daughters, Payton and Avery.

Allison Levy, Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, AdvoCare International, LP

Allison Levy serves as Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of AdvoCare International, LP, a premier health and wellness company based in Plano, Texas. She joined the company in 2003 and was appointed head of the legal department shortly thereafter in 2005. Her day-to-day responsibilities include managing all aspects of the company’s legal, government relations and human resources work. In addition, she serves as the company spokesperson. Ms. Levy received a BA in political science from Boston University and received her JD from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in Dallas.

Raymond “Bud” Miley, Jr., President, Worldwide Field Sales, The Kirby Company

Bud Miley is the President of Worldwide Field Sales at The Kirby Company, a manufacturer of vacuum cleaners and home cleaning accessories based in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Miley followed in the footsteps of his father’s 40+ years in the direct selling industry when he started selling Kirby vacuums door-to-door during summer breaks while attending college at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY.

Douglas Robinson, President & Chief Executive Officer, LifeVantage Corp.

Douglas Robinson brings more than 25 years of health care management experience to his position as he leads LifeVantage Corporation as President and Chief Executive Officer. He is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the health care industry. He served on the Board of Directors for LifeVantage for nearly a year and a half prior to joining the corporate management team. Mr. Robinson is focused on the measured, accountable growth and maturity of LifeVantage. Frank VanderSloot is CEO of Melaleuca, Inc., in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mr. VanderSloot has directed the development of the company’s 350-plus nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal care and household cleaning products. Under his leadership, , as well as the Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, CNN and USA Today. In 2007, he was inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame. Mr. VanderSloot serves on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as Vice Chairman for the Northwest Region and sits on the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Prior to Melaleuca, Mr. VanderSloot held key management positions with two Fortune 500 companies. He served as a Regional Vice President for Automated Data Processing (ADP) and later became Vice President for Cox Communications. John Wyckoff, President, Dove Chocolate Discoveries

John Wyckoff is President of DOVE CHOCOLATE DISCOVERIES™, a division of Mars Inc., based in Northern New Jersey, a role he assumed in May 2012.  DOVE CHOCOLATE DISCOVERIES™ sells innovative premium chocolate products through independent chocolatiers in a fun and rewarding home-party setting.
