The U.S. DSA is a member of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) and also serves as the secretariat for the organization which is a federation of all national DSAs around the world. The WFDSA promulgates a World Code by which all member DSAs must abide to the extent the requirements are consistent with the law in each particular country.
The World Codes were most recently updated in 2008, and the U.S. DSA Board of Directors approved a number of Code amendments in September 2009, bringing the U.S. DSA Code of Ethics into conformance. See the World Codes on the WFDSA Web site.
The U.S. DSA Code of Ethics includes an extraterritorial effect clause which requires U.S. DSA member companies operating in a country where they are not a member of the local DSA, or where a DSA does not exist, to comply with the World Code to the extent it is not inconsistent with U.S. law.
