During the weeks of March 29 and April 5, DSA hosted events with three Members of the United States House of Representatives to discuss the impact direct selling has in their communities and economies.

On March 30, Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) participated in a town hall event that brought together corporate leaders from DSA members 4Life Research, Nature’s Sunshine Products, Nu Skin Enterprises, Modere, USANA Health Sciences, and Young Living Essential Oils to engage with the Congressman. Other corporate employees listened to the conversation as Rep. Moore discussed his personal familiarity and support of direct selling.  “It was a privilege to meet with the Direct Selling Association and talk about their current challenges and priorities. DSA’s members are committed to improving local communities and empowering its workforce. I was grateful to learn more about how they are serving Utah.” said Rep. Moore.

On April 5, Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-CA) joined direct sellers from the San Fernando Valley representing Arbonne International and Rodan + Fields for a Women’s Entrepreneurship Roundtable. The women talked about how they have the flexibility to work their businesses around their busy schedules and how the business had provided them growth personally and professionally. “It was a pleasure speaking with these amazing women entrepreneurs in the San Fernando Valley. They are instrumental to our national economic success and are a true example of American talent and ingenuity. As a Member of Congress, I will continue supporting women-owned businesses so that our entrepreneurs have the tools to thrive.” said Rep. Cardenas.

On April 6, Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX) was on a virtual call with direct sellers and corporate representatives of Nu Skin Enterprises and Zurvita. The women introduced Rep. Fletcher to the direct selling business and the impact it has in her district.

“We appreciate Reps. Cardenas, Fletcher, and Moore for taking time out of their schedules to hear about how direct selling has a positive impact on their Congressional districts. Virtual events connecting salesforce and corporate representatives with Members of Congress has become common over the past year. The pandemic has not impacted DSA’s primary purpose of educating and discussing our business with policymakers. These forums provide a great opportunity with maximum engagement from corporate and salesforce representatives of our thriving businesses.” said DSA President Joseph N. Mariano.
