Direct Selling Association Elects 2018 Officers, Directors

San Diego, Calif., (June 16, 2018)—Members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) today elected officers and directors to the association’s Board of Directors. The officers will each serve one-year terms in their elected positions, and the directors will each serve three-year terms.

Officers of the association are recognized leaders who command the respect of their colleagues and the public, can devote the time necessary to lead and direct the affairs of the association, are willing and able to assume and carry out the duties of the chairman of the Board, when and if called upon to do so, and have served as directors or have demonstrated ability by their work on committees or on special projects.

Chairman: John Parker, Chief Sales Officer, Amway

As Amway’s chief sales officer, John Parker is responsible for the company’s global sales operations. In this role, he oversees distributor compensation and recognition, sales plan development, field leadership development, global training and education, and several strategic growth initiatives.

In 2018, Parker will celebrate 25 years working with Amway Business Owners around the world. He joined Amway as a distributor relations sales manager and later became director of sales for North America. Parker was later named Amway North America’s vice president of sales and marketing. In 2003, Parker became chief marketing officer for Amway and in 2007 was named president of Amway Japan, leading all operations for one of Amway’s largest affiliates. He returned to Ada as vice president and chief sales officer in 2013.

Parker is current chairman of the United States Direct Selling Association board of directors and executive committee. He was formerly chairman of the Direct Selling Education Foundation and is a past member of the leadership advisory board for the College of Business at Ferris State University.

Parker earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance from the University of Notre Dame, where he played varsity golf, which is still a favorite pastime, as is visiting his son and daughter on the campuses where they live, travel and adventure.

Vice Chairman: Dr. Traci Lynn Burton, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Traci Lynn Inc.

Whether she’s in her role as a motivational speaker, author, or the owner and driving force behind the hugely successful Traci Lynn Inc. Dr. Traci Lynn continues to impact her consultants with her mission of “Passing the MIC” (Motivate, Inspire Change Lives). “Passing the MIC” fuels her desire to motivate people to step out of their comfort zones, inspire them to greatness, and to change their lives. Dr. Lynn has grown her Oakland Park-based business into a multimillion-dollar enterprise with currently more than 25,000 independent sales consultants in 48 states, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Her goal is to continue to empower her consultants and create a legacy business.

Treasurer: Ryan Napierski, President, NuSkin Enterprises

Ryan Napierski currently serves as Nu Skin’s president. Before his current appointment, he served as president of global sales and operations, president of Nu Skin’s North Asia region and president of Nu Skin Japan.

Mr. Napierski has also served as vice president of business development and chief operating officer for the North Asia region. He has fulfilled multiple positions for Nu Skin since joining the company in 1995, including vice president of global business development, general manager for the United Kingdom, vice president of European business development and key account manager for United States executives.

Mr. Napierski has a bachelor’s degree in business, a master’s degree in business administration from Duke University and a master’s degree in international business from Goethe Universitat in Germany.

Immediate Past Chairman: David Holl, President & Chief Executive Officer, Mary Kay Inc.

David Holl joined Mary Kay Inc. in June 1993 and, in 1996, became Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. In October 2001, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer, and shortly after that was promoted to Chief Executive Officer. Before joining the Mary Kay family, he was a Vice President at Citibank, based in New York. Preceding Citibank, Mr. Holl was a financial analyst for Union Texas Petroleum in Houston. As President and Chief Executive Officer for Mary Kay, Mr. Holl is responsible for the leadership of the company with world headquarters in Dallas, five regional distribution centers in the U.S. and operations in more than 35 international markets, including Brazil, China, Mexico and Russia. Mary Kay develops, tests, manufactures and packages the majority of its own products at state-of-the-art plants in Dallas and China. Mr. Holl is a member of the Mary Kay Inc. Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Personal Care Products Council’s (PCPC) Executive Committee, The Nature Conservancy, the Direct Selling Association Board of Directors and the World Federation of Direct Selling Association’s CEO Council. He also serves or has served on numerous civic boards including the Southwestern Medical Foundation and Dallas Citizen’s Council. Mr. Holl is a graduate of Clemson University and earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina. David is married to Suzanne; they have three daughters: Brittany, Sara and Rachel.

Past Chairman: Orville Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, Scentsy, Inc.

In 2004, Orville Thompson and his wife, Heidi, purchased Scentsy and launched it as a direct selling company. Built on the core values of simplicity, authenticity and generosity, they guided Scentsy from its humble beginnings to become a global leader in home fragrance and direct selling. In 2009, Scentsy received the U.S. Direct Selling Association’s first Rising Star Award, and in 2010, topped Inc. 500’s list as the fastest-growing consumer products company in the United States. In 2018, the Direct Selling News recognized Scentsy among the 13 Best Places to Work in direct selling, and Forbes ranked Scentsy No. 35 on its 2018 list of America’s Best Mid-Size Employers. Scentsy delivers multisensory experiences with products sold by dedicated Independent Scentsy Consultants in 11 countries. The company employs more than 1,000 people worldwide and is one of the 45 largest direct selling companies in the world. Orville lives Scentsy’s motto to "contribute more than you take" by volunteering on various nonprofit boards and committees, most notably the U.S. Direct Selling Association Executive Committee, where he has served since 2012, and the Direct Selling Education Foundation Board of Directors. He was chairman of the U.S. Direct Selling Association Board of Directors from 2013 to 2014.

Steve Fisher, Chief Sales Officer, Stream Gas & Electric, Ltd. DBA Stream

A former Analyst of Airport Operations at American Airlines, Steve Fisher joined Stream because he saw the incredible opportunity of being in on the ground floor of both a start-up company and energy deregulation in Texas. To Steve, network marketing and electricity make a perfect combination. Steve and his wife Diane feel that Stream has changed their lives in many ways, but mainly it has allowed them to become debt free and to live out some of their long-held dreams. After being one of Stream’s top income earners for 10+ years, he now serves as Stream’s Chief Sales Officer. Steve is extremely excited about being able to use his corporate experience and his network marketing experience to serve the Stream field and the network marketing community.

Kevin Guest, Chief Executive Officer, USANA Health Sciences, Inc.

As the chief executive officer of USANA, Kevin leads worldwide field development and sales and works with the Board of Directors and Management Team to develop short-term and long-term goals for the future of the company. He has worked closely with Dr. Myron Wentz—founder of USANA—for more than 23 years and makes it his main job to maintain Dr. Wentz’s overall vision and direction for USANA.

Darren Jensen, President and Chief Executive Officer, LifeVantage Corporation

Darren Jensen brings nearly 30 years of direct selling industry experience and a growth mindset to LifeVantage. Appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2015, Mr. Jensen is well respected for his focus on building success founded on scientific discovery and for his down-to-earth, people-first approach to business. Before being appointed President and CEO of LifeVantage, Mr. Jensen served as the President-Americas and Chief Sales Officer at Jeunesse Global, a privately-held direct selling anti-aging and skin care company. Also, Mr. Jensen co-founded Agel Enterprises where he also served as the Vice President and General Manager. He began his career at Nu Skin Enterprises (NYSE: NUS) before joining Amway Global as a brand manager. Mr. Jensen then went on to co-found Synergy Worldwide (NASDAQ: NATR) and was Director of International Business Development at USANA (NYSE: USNA) before becoming the Chief Sales Officer of Ampegy, a publicly-held (NASDAQ: SPKE) direct-selling company in the energy industry. Mr. Jensen holds a BA from Brigham Young University. He and his amazing wife Carolee are the proud parents of 5 beautiful children.

Konrad Mayr, Special Advisor, Sabika, Inc.

With more than 30 years of marketing experience and a Ph.D. in economics, Konrad Mayr brings a wealth of business acumen to Sabika. He has successfully marketed products for a variety of industries: steel, automotive, textile, healthcare, heavy machinery—and now, jewelry.

Paul Vidovich, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Rexair LLC

Mr. Vidovich joined Rexair in 1995 and has since been promoted to Chairman, President and CEO. Before his current position, Mr. Vidovich was Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales from 1998 through 2000, Vice President Sales Domestic/Canada and a Rainbow Distributor from 1971 through 1995. He has over 40 years of industry experience.

Scott White, Chief Executive Officer, New Avon LLC 

Mr. J. Scott White joined New Avon from Abbott Laboratories, serving most recently as President of International Nutrition, where he led 9,000 employees across 100 countries. During his decade-long tenure at the company, he served in several leadership roles, including President of Abbott Nutrition North America, Divisional Vice President of Latin America and Divisional Vice President of US Pediatric Nutrition. His accomplishments at Abbott include delivering consistent double-digit revenue growth for the International Nutrition business, creating a robust innovation pipeline for the North American Nutrition business and building strong sales and marketing teams.

Before Abbott Laboratories, Mr. White spent 15 years at Procter & Gamble, holding brand management roles, including Marketing Director of Global Hair Care, Marketing Director of Mexico and Central America and Marketing Director of Latin America Hair Care.

Mr. White holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor in Finance from Miami University of Ohio. He currently serves on the Business Advisory Council to the Farmer School of Business at Miami University.
