Direct Selling Association Members Participate in Virtual Women's Entrepreneurship Roundtable with U.S. Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03)

Salesforce members from AdvoCare, Kynect and Thirty-One Gifts participated in a virtual Women’s Entrepreneurship Roundtable with United States Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) and the Direct Selling Association (DSA) on Wednesday, April 29. The roundtable discussion focused on the current state of small business during the pandemic, getting women involved in entrepreneurship, and the importance of family, freedom and flexibility to operate independent businesses.

DSA President Joseph N. Mariano, said, “It is more important than ever that we help our members facilitate relationships with their elected officials. Today, 74.8 percent of direct sellers are women and we are proud to support them during this time and previously for more than a century. It is imperative that progressive leaders like these women are able to share their insights on their communities and their businesses.”

Congressman Taylor said, “Even amidst this difficult time, these women are adapting their entrepreneurial ventures and finding ways to make invaluable investments in their communities while growing our economy. It’s never easy to operate a small business, but these independent business owners are making the best of this unprecedented situation in innovative ways. I believe in small business and applaud the DSA for seeking out opportunities for direct sellers to share their concerns and new ideas to promote women’s entrepreneurship.”


For more than a century, the Direct Selling Association (DSA) has served as the national trade association for companies that offer entrepreneurial opportunities to independent sellers to market and sell products and services, typically outside of a fixed retail establishment. In 2018, direct selling took place across the United States, generating $35.4 billion in retail sales. More than six million entrepreneurs in the U.S. are selling products or services through the direct selling channel, providing a personalized buying experience for more than 36.6 million customers.
