To get a first-hand view of business activity in his district, United States Congressman, Andy Barr (R-KY) met with employees at the Scentsy warehouse facility in his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. The Direct Selling Association, the national trade organization for the direct selling industry, works with members like Scentsy - and executive leaders such as Mark Stastny, Chief Marketing Officer for Scentsy and member of the DSA Board Directors, to identify opportunities to meet their elected officials.
Rep. Barr toured the warehouse and observed as 200 employees were picking, kitting and packing products for delivery to more than 108,000 Scentsy Consultants across the United States. Scentsy, headquartered in Meridian, Idaho, provides stylish fragrance products to consumers worldwide through the direct selling business model. The company chose the Lexington, KY location for its distribution warehouse based on its proximity to two-thirds of the U.S. population to which it serves.
“I enjoyed getting an opportunity to visit with employees at Scentsy’s Lexington facility, and I appreciate the company’s willingness to provide job opportunities for hundreds of constituents in my hometown of Lexington. Scentsy’s recognition of the city as a critical logistical hub in the United States makes them a valued member of our community. I look forward to watching Scentsy grow and prosper in Kentucky for years to come,” said Rep. Barr.
Mark Stastny with Scentsy stated, “Sharing our warehouse facility with Congressman Barr provided our team with the opportunity to connect in-person with their elected official and discuss issues that are of everyday concern to them. It’s exciting to see Congressman like Rep. Barr continuing to be involved on a local level in his hometown.”
